Lock Actuator

Lock Actuator
I'm trying to get a second opinion on a problem that I'm having with my auto door locks. I am experiencing problems with my doors automatically locking shortly (sometimes immediately) after I close the driver's door. The driver's door lock is not affected by this problem, but the other 3 doors lock automatically. I will often hear a constant clicking noise as well (as if you were turning a switch on and off), but I can't really tell which door(s) it's coming from. It's been suggested that it's the lock actuator, but I didn't know if there is an actuator for each door or one that controls all the doors. It's a '95 Maxima.
Thanks for any input that you can provide.

Actuators are just motors that physically lock the doors.
If you unlock all the doors, will they lock by themselves? Each door? All doors at once? At idle? While driving? Did you recently have anything installed?
This will help you narrow down the source.

Thanks for the info. After the doors get locked automatically, I can unlock them and they will eventually lock automatically again. I have not had anything installed recently. Obviously, I am very novice at this, but I am interested in understanding what's happening.
Thanks for your quick response.

I have this same problem, but believe it to be related to my alarm, which I cannot get to automatically unlock all the doors, it will lock them fine but it won't unlock because the maxima apparently has s two pulse unlock and the alarm can't handle that...so if anyone knows the solution to that problem please let me know..

QikEnuf... some of the newer alarms have a double pulse option just for cars like ours... depends on the alarm. You can also purchase an additional module... or you can set the auxillary function to pulse the unlock one more time so that it will unlook the other 3 doors...
