vibrations - not the good kind

After installing the 17 inch factory rims on my '99, I noticed once I get to around 40 mph, the steering vibrates, not enough to affect driving, but enough to be noticeable.

Do you guys think maybe a weight fell off and one or more tires are no longer balanced or is it something more serious like needing new shocks/struts?

Thanks

i put 18 inch on mine and never caused an issue most likely balance, tread wear, tires in front should match and/or needs a weight

Sounds like an issue with the tires or wheels and not a shock or strut problem.

it could be a number of things, but most likely a weight, or tred wear on the outer side of the tire. i had a 91 integra that drove like ****, it vibrated all the time when i stopped or accelerated, i put a set of 18's on it and the thing was like driving on rails! turns out the outer tread was bald on the front tires. but the weight thing could be it as well! small vibrations will happen when a weight falls off. so try getn them rebalanced!

Thanks guys, I only mentioned the suspension aspect of it because I also noticed a squeeky sound when I apply the brakes and the front end compresses a little, it sounds almost like when you lay on an old mattress, you know that squeeky sound? Car is almost 10 years old and 156K miles, so I'm sure I'm due for shocks/struts soon.

Thanks again!

Yup, it was a balance issue. Had all 4 tires re-balanced and the vibration problem is gone. Thanks!
