I have 98 se. Had to replace an door opener. got a thread off of usenet
maxima group. Did as it said, reprogrammed the new opener. The other old working opener now doesn't work. I re-programmed it. New one fails.

Any idea what has to be done to program them at the same time. I tried setting them both. When they are ready to program.

After you have programmed the first one, unlock the door, don't open it though, and then relock it making sure the key is in the ACC position the entire time. Hit the lock button on the second remote. You can program up to 4 remotes, just make sure to do them all at the same time, unlocking the door and relocking it after each one you program.

 

Additional ID code entry
If you need to activate additional remote controllers, unlock the driver's door, then lock again with door lock ****.

Push lock button on the additional new remote controller once.

This ID code entry enable state and setting mode remain until the driver's door is opened.

Door opener... are you talking about the key fob remote?

Check the thread titled "Max FAQs" above. The second link in the first post has directions on how to reprogram the remote.
