I just recently replaced my axles. Long story short, now I've got a grinding noise that appears once in a while. Usually when cold, especially after i go over a bump. Ive took the wheels off again and re-tightened the axle nuts. However the problem still persists. Now My break light also is lit while cold. It goes off after a WHILE. Ive taught of every option possible. Nothing seems to make sense. I NEED to fix this asap. I have no money to take it to a shop and i can not continue to drive with this problem.

Also I had to fill up the gear oil in the tranny. I wasn't sure which viscosity was in there at the time so i bought so 80/90 i believe. Don't know if that would make a difference but worth mentioning

 

Brake light - Check brake fluid level
Noise - Check the splash shield in back of the rotor, make sure it's not hitting the rotor

 

i agree. if the brake light is on check the brake fliud level

 

Found the problem..... I was driving home from a buddies house and noticed that the car was dragging like the breaks were engaged. I tried the e-break while moving. There was slack in it almost to the end. It seems that my e-break is getting stuck in the cold.

I haven't looked at it yet, but any suggestions on fixing it ?

 

First figure out if it's the cable or the caliper sticking.
Replace the component that's sticking.

 

Figured it out. Its the cable. and it looks like its gonna be a ***** to replace. the exhaust has to come off, and of course parts are gonna be an arm and a leg, so I'm probably just going to disconnect the e-break for now... at least on the pasngr wheel that's where its getting stuck.

 

When my ebrake cable driver side seized on me, because midas ****ed it up (long story) i just replaced both rear calipers and the cable just sort of fixed itself! i was blessed and i'm sure that this probably is not the case with yours.

 

yeah unfortunately i had a close look at the cable, there's part of the cable that poped out, well hard to explain Ill take a picture next time i got the wheel off.


The problem is that it gets stuck when its cold. So now i don't use the hand break, just pop it into gear now. Ill fix it eventually, no money right now.

 

I'm guessing my cable is starting to stick too. Whenever I disengage the e-break I feel like its hitting something causing a resist. Never did that until the cold came around. Not really worried cause it only does it sometimes.

 

yeah mine only did it sometimes at first. or It would do it and than go away after a short time. Now its just there all the time.

 

im guessing this is what is wrong with mine too..it mostly does it when i make a right turn..dang this sucks ..its snowing...and i gotta fix it..this should be fun
