Question about front wheel hub

I have to replace the wheel bearing and the guy at the machine shop told me that my hub was no good because the old bearing wore down the surface metal which now means that the new bearing would be too big for it. A new hub is like $160, and just got laid off and don't want to spend money for another hub if I don't have to.
Now for my question:
Should the hub have a tight fit when starting to press on the new bearing, or is it loose in the beginning and get tighter as it gets pressed together? Mine is loose but the old bearing race is still attached to the bottom so I can't press it all the way on to see if it actually gets tighter when fully on.

I went for new hubs for both my fronts. They got messed up when the bearings went out.

well i just bought one on ebay for about 80 and free shipping. it's used but the guy that sold it has 100% feedback and seems to specialize in maxima/i30 parts. hope that it works! but can anyone answer my original question: is the hub supposed to start off with a tight fit even before the wheel bearing is pressed all the way on? Or is it easy to get on and just gets tight when the bearing is fully seated?

135 for hub? I guess you got the real deal. I don't remember mine being that much. I got mine through the local dealer. The bearing sounds about right, as well as oil gaskets. $10 to press. My bro installed for me.

I think on his last page he talks about pressing it in if I'm on the right page with you guys. He did it all himself so try it out.

The hub is a constant diameter along its entire length, there is no taper to it. It is a tight fit (requiring a press) for its entire length.

Most local shops have a press. You should very easily be able to find someone who'll press a new bearing in for next to nothing.

I Should but can't. $60 is the cheapest.
I might try tapping it in with a brass punch but I have to get the hub and see how difficult it's going to be. If all fails with the punch I'll be shelling out $60.
Nealoc Thanks for the help it's totally tubular!

I recently had the bearings and wheel hub changed out and the abs light is on. Why is the light on? Fix?
