Best/brightest Over-the-counter 9004 bulbs?

Had a pair of the Narva's - OK, but IMHO, not worth the price over Wagner 9004BL's.

What about the o-t-c "30% brighter" 9004HighOutput or XtraVision bulbs from GE, Sylvania, Phillips that you find at WalMart or K-Mart?

The CoolBlues and SuperBlues - any good and plenty white-enough?

And what's up with those 9004 Weathervision bulbs? - are these like semi-fog bulbs or what?

Any input greatly appreciated!
TIA!

Re: Best/brightest Over-the-counter 9004 bulbs?

Funny, I went from stock to Narvas, big differnce, Then one of my Narvas blew. Changed them both to Wagners, even ran (for a short time) with one Narva and one Wganer. Didn't notice much of a difference, except in color slightly from Narva to Wagner. Since the Wagners cost half as much a Narvas, I'm sticking with Wagners.

I think you'll find that the good ones are pretty much the same, be it Narva, Philips Bluevisons, Wagners, etc. They're all better than stock, but not much different from each other. The weakness in the 9004 design is really the reflector, the bulb factor changes only a little.

Oh, and PIAAs are over-priced marketing hype. I bet Microsoft makes 'em

Get the Blue Vision by Philips or Cool Blues by Sylvania for the less expensive bulbs. I would suggest the Piaa superwhite if you can afford the more expensive bulbs. If you don't get the headlights from Piaa then at least go with the H3 fogs or 1157, 1156, or 168 wedge. Better to spend a little more $$ up front for bulbs that will last.

What is a good higher wattage bulb?

For normal wattage, the Piaa's are overpriced. I have them in my maxima and they look just like the Philips Blue Visions.

But for the H-3 fogs the Piaa Xtreme's are really nice and worth the money IMHO.

No they are very white.
If you want yellow, then you should get hella yellowstars.
Also, there is a yellow paint that can be used on the housing.

Do not go with the Yelow Stars... They are now made in Korea and the quality really bites.. They're not even yellow any more.. I returned mine and I'm looking for other 85w H3's.. Is PIAA that much better than 85w Phillips?

I used the World Vision Diamond Blue 80w/100w 9004's and like them better than any...granted they give a bronze tint up close but are way brighter than any others I have seen IMHOP. I cannot find them again to save my **** and the only place in Texas I remmeber buying them at closed down...so long Reigning Performance...you were my only hope.

actually the PIAA Ion crystal H3's are very yellow, they look really cool with my clear bumpers when i have the 168 Ion crystals in there, but i keep the Xtreme White in there most of the time. the Xtreme Whites are the one's that breax124 is thinking about

Becareful with 85w bulbs in your fogs. The added heat puts stress on the glass housing and many people have cracked them with higher wattage bulbs.

You can get the yellow lense paint at:
http://www.autodynamic.com/
Click on spray paint on the left.

They really do suck now... I purchased my original Yellow Stars H3 about two years ago.. They were yellow and made in Germany. They were very nice.. One bulb went out and I bought two more.. I installed them and they worked for a couple of days and went out.. I was given a third one and that also didnt work... I got my money back and have the stock ones in again.. I noticed that they are not yellow at all anymore... They are also made in Korea.. I agree the old ones were very good but the new manufacture is cutting major corners.. I would'nt advise anybody to purchase Hella Yellowstars..

Here's a recent thread about them...

Cuzo

I've tried Hyper Industry's bulbs...they're ok. lasted 5 months.
I have the Sylvania cool-blues in my garage just sitting there. Didn't like them at all.
Right now, I have CUZO bulbs. 85watt. I love them! I've actually had couple guys follow me to ask me what type of bulbs they were. It goes super nice with rewired Polarg corner bulbs. the front of the car is bright as hell... oh, and I've had them for 11 months now. It costed me $45.

HID.. worth the money??

My lights are not bright at all.... and i'm thinking to change it to something brighter....

I saw some picture of maxima w/ HID lights in this forum and was thinking about buying it. But i'm not very sure about spending $500, just for light...... and you have to give up your high beam too....
FYI, my car is a 95 GLE, so I dont have fog lights.

Do you think I should pay 500 just for lights? or should I just get one of the aftermarket over-the-counter lights?
and What brand is recomended?

in the past, I had experienced trouble w/ super white bulb... like nokya, etc...... when i'm driving in rain.......
white halogen doesn't really works in rain........at least the 1 I had didn't really work in rain.......
