ok, so both sides are leaking, not bad though. at what point do i need to consider re-doing them??? do i lose tranny fluid or oil or both?? not sure cause i didnt see it, my mechanic told me about it. cost to repair?? thanks in advance>>>>

 

Seals can be had for $20. It doesnt take that long to tear apart. I have done it once. Wasnt too bad. I have to retear back apart now to put in new axles.

 

so, you have a 5 speed trans, what are the differences between auto and manual? and how do you determine when an axle is shot?? does the car hop sideways??? cause mine does that, but i also need new lca's. i have 186,000 on my 95 auto, but i have a plethera of other work to do. merry xmas maxy.....

 

What are the differences between auto and manual? I hope you mean as far as replacing the axle seals? Not much, really. Pull the axle, replace the seal, replace the axle.

A failing CV joint will typically give you clicking when you go around corners, usually at slow speeds.
