"restored" the headlights yesterday

Since the left low beam burnt-out, I replaced both 9004's and decided to do something about the cloudy/yellow lenses. Bought a kit for $15 (Permatex). It consisted of 4 grades of sandpaper and a plastic polish solution. I thought it was overpriced but decided to give it a try. Sure enough, it worked just like the before and after pics on the web.

I'm not positive it makes a huge difference as far as lighting the road, but now you can see the bulb and reflector inside, whereas before it was so hazy you couldn't....

Pictures?

I remember when I had to clean my headlights on an old car, it was a pain. I just used high grit sand paper, and some plastic polish, I think it was abot $5 for the polish, I already had the sand paper, so I went to work. It looked like it was new, from a far distance, but close up, you can see the scratches, and it was still hazy on the sides.

Theres a tut. around here somwhere, it tells you a good and effective way to clean your headlights.

yeap, those kits usually work really well. I found a new option this past weekend for fixing the foggy headlights. I had some stuff called Nevr-Dull Magic wadding polish laying around. Its made to polish metal parts. And if you work it long enough, you can get a near mirror finish on some metal parts.

Well, I tried some on the plastic headlights since its not very abrasive and it worked pretty well. I think I paid $4 for the entire package and you can use it on wheels and other metal parts.
