Engine Direction

I'm picking up new coil packs and have a really dumb question but can't find anything searching.

The right side of the engine is the back and the left is the front? ie when buying colil packs Ignition coil, maxima, right, would be the rear.

Or do I have this completely opposite?

Most parts are sold with reference to which bank of cylinders, either Bank 1 or 2, or by the individual cylinder number.

The rear three by the firewall, Bank 1, are numbered 1-3-5 from passenger side of car to driver side.

The front three by radiator, Bank 2, are numbered 2-4-6, same direction.

Thanks guys, that makes perfect sense. You basically look at the engine from the passenger side where the belts are just as you would with a forward facing engine.

So if my mechanic previously replaced my bank one coil packs, I need to replace bank two or the right/radiator side.

Yup, which is a hell of a lot easier.

Radiator side, or front, is left bank.

And no, you look at the engine from the back facing forwards.
