Nothing seems to go right...transmission?

I did a search...most of the problems I've been hearing about are not what I am having, so hopefully this will be a brief thread....

'98 Auto SE, 59,400 miles. B&M Tranny cooler, UR UDP are the internal mods. I JUST (Tuesday) changed the tranny fluid/filter, fuel filter. The tranny fluid was CLEAN, very clean!!! They may have actually changed it before that gave me the car at 51,800 miles.

Anyway, the problem occured BEFORE I CHANGED THE FLUID/FILTER. The problem is also intermittant...seems when the car is cold, the noise isn't there. DISCLAIMER: when I shift from reverse/drive, I always ALWAYS come to a complete stop, but who knows what was done for the 1st 50k on the car, right?

The problem: when I shift from drive to park/reverse/whatever when the car is warm, the tranny makes a pretty loud clunking noise that I am almost positive it never made before. However, my old car did that all the time, and it was fine.

I am just curious to know if anyone else has this noise, or if I should get my *** to Nissan ASAP before the original (I have an extended too) warrantee runs out.

i think you answered your question (i.e., "*** to Nissan ASAP...")

well, like I said...my old car made tons of noise but never slipped or anything...maybe something just needs to be adjusted. I'll call them today.

No noise, smooth quiet shifts from park to drive to reverse. Go back to Nissan before your warranty runs out.

do you think I should replace the UDP with stock? No one ever notices I put it on, but then, I never take my car to Nissan unless I HAVE to......

Maybe have them check the u-joints on the drive shaft. I had a car that sounded like you describe and that's what it was.

well knowing Nissan, you should probably take the UDP off....they'll have some excuse that this is causing the problem and tell you your warranty is void ....

Exactly. And voiding your warranty is just not fn because then if there is a problem you get to pay for it yourself.

well, I just talked to the dealership, and they are going to take a look at it on Tuesday. Stock pulley is returning on Monday. If I can't get the stupid thinig off, then I guess I'll risk it, but I had no trouble getting the thing off/on the first time around. They usually don't notice the pulley because it's silver, but I will attempt to put the stock one back on anyway muaha. I dunno though...they can't prove that it caused the tranny problems, plus, when I got the car, the rear main seal was leaking, so...yeah. I am guessing the previous owner of this car was a #$%^&* to the poor thing.
