Code 0807 or 1008 Differences?

I am confused here, I read through the stickies and it seems that 0807 and 1008 are identical. I personally have code 0807 and I suppose its possible to have two different codes for the same thing I just don't understand why.

What I am really looking for is the exact part I need for my car (97 SE Fed Spec), can anyone help? During my search of other threads I have found the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid to be many names and/or part numbers. Sorry if this is vague, it hard to be exact since I am not really sure what I need and am only getting more confused the more I read different threads. If anyone can help it would be apprecaited.

0807 = P0443 = EVAP Canister Purge Control Valve/Solenoid Valve
1008 = P1445 = EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Valve

The EVAP canister purge control valve and the EVAP canister purge VOLUME control valve are two different parts (although located physically close to each other). The purge control valve looks like a cylinder with a little hat; the purge volume control valve is a more complicated device that looks sort of like the idle air control valve. The purge control valve is operated by a separate solenoid, while the purge volume control valve is operated by a stepper motor integral to the valve assembly.

The diagnostic procedures for these codes are lengthy, and covered in the service manual. You might read through them and see if there's something that might cause both codes simultaneously (wiring, plugged vacuum hose). The purge control valve, the purge volume control valve, and the solenoid are three separate parts, and all quite pricey if bought new, so trial and error part swapping is probably not a good idea. Hope this helps.

Thanks ATTappman,

That cleared it up quite a bit for me. I was able to call courtesy and not worry about getting the wrong part. I ordered a EVAP canister purge control valve/solenoid valve. Price was $110 plus shipping. That will be here in a few days.

I addition to that I replaced two coil packs today that I thougth may be faulty, however I still have P0300 (misfire) and just added to the list is P1320 (ignition signal) which could be pointing to the Crankshaft Position Sensor or more bad coils.

Maybe the ECM was just "learning" the new coils so I reset the SES light and we'll see what it is when it comes back on.

Hmm...there are two separate parts: 1) EVAP canister purge control valve and 2) EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve. Part #2 is a solenoid that cuts the vacuum signal to part #1, which then shuts off the EVAP purge line. Part #1 is a little black cylinder with a hat; part #2 is a little metal box with a female electrical connector on it. Both have three vacuum hose nipples, but only the solenoid (part #2) has an electrical connector. I've replaced my EGR control solenoid, which as far as I can tell is identical to the EVAP purge control solenoid. There are three of these "solenoid valves" on the car. The EVAP purge control solenoid sits right beside the MAP/BARO solenoid, while the EGR control solenoid sits by itself next to the fuel pressure regulator.

I can't tell from Courtesy's diagrams which solenoid valve is the EVAP purge control solenoid. All three solenoid valves have the same numerical part number, with either a V or a VA or a VB suffix. They're all $72, so maybe they're all identical. The EVAP canister purge control valve is $66, and is called "VALVE ASSY-PURGECUT" on the Courtesy web site. So for $110 I'm curious to know which part you ordered? Do you have the Courtesy part number? I'd like to know this, in case I'm ever in the same situation. Thanks.

I ordered the solenoid valve, I guess I'm still alittle confused. The part I want is the all metal one with two brass hose connectors. It comes apart to show a valve inside. It's not the one with a hat on it. I gave the guy at courtesy the code number P0443 and he seem to know exactly what I was needing. Hopefully this all works out.

Courtesy Name and Part Number
VALVE ASSY-CONTROL (14935-A32B003)

The price was $104.90 my mistake on the $110.

Gosh, I think 14935-A32B003 is the EVAP canister vent control valve, although it's very hard to tell from the Courtesy diagram (I've never spelunked around the EVAP canister, which is back by the gas tank, so I've never laid eyes on this part). It looks like that part is covered by diagnostic code P0446, not P0443.

I'm no expert, but it might be worth a call back to Courtesy to make sure they understood you right. Also, P0443 can be caused by any one of three separate parts, or a wiring/vacuum hose fault in the connections to those parts. Unfortunately you really have to slog through the diagnostic procedure for P0443 in the service manual, to avoid laying out cash for parts that might not fix the problem.

Maybe pmohr can help us out here?
