Maxima review
Oh wait, it's from across the pond, not even north of the border.

That's not a particularly negative or thorough review. He just had a bad experience.

I love my Maxima and everyone I know who has owned a 4th gen adored theirs.

As the banner up top says, "MAXIMA.ORG - The Home For Maxima Enthusiasts"... I expect most people here to love their Maxima, and be swayed towards Pros and skim over the Cons.

Most I ever had was 3 Maximas sitting in my driveway. Down to 1 now. Bang for buck, and reliability... has me temped at checking out 5.5gens now... even tho I swore my next car would be a rwd or at least a luxury car.

He Wasn't An Enthusiast...

...And hopefully gave his honest opinion. The review was not a bad one, it just pointed out flaws that everyone generally accepts and lives with -- although one must wonder why he felt this particular generation had "slushy" handling. It doesn't. Was he comparing the 4th Generation Maxima's handling characteristics to Porche, BMW and Mercedes, perhaps? If so, this is high praise, indeed. My 1998 Maxima had handling which surpassed all my expectations -- my ex liked it so much, we ended up with a 2002 right next to my 1998, and then two years later we BOTH bought new 6th Generation Maximas (2004 and 2005). This ain't my first rodeo boys, and I know that the Maxima has handling which beats the pants off most stock saloon people-mobiles.

This looks a lot like the consumer reviews on edmunds.com.

Go to edmunds.com and I'm sure we could all find a few negative reviews for the Maxima. No car in the world is perfect and people love to b!tch.

Bad - Soggy handling and a generally baggy drive. 3.0V6 likes a drink"

I've had my Maxima for 11 years and think it's a great car. I did got the SE model because it has a firmer suspension than the other models. The GLE and the GXE(?) were not firm enough and I did not like them. Although I think that the suspension on those other models can be easilly improved.

The only way I can justify "it likes a drink" is that he is probably comparing it to their "normal" cars. things along the lines of Geo's and the like. Tiny stuff. But here, we think 27 mpg is great, and considering where we've come from it is. I wouldnt trade anything in the world for my 2 Maxima's, unless it was a mint 4th gen with 2,000 miles on it and with a VLSD

LOL brits! I haven't had any major issues with mine. My old one (which my brother has now) has had its issues recently but its too be expected with 200K+. My buddy picked up a 95 5spd thing looked immaculate. Inside was completely spotless seemed like a great car.

Turns out this thing is a lemon. Every window regulator went out except for one. It's only a matter of time for the last one to go. Starter is shot. Car drinks coolant like no tomorrow but can't find any leaks. Brakes are gone, CV axle is going out, clutch was completely toasted not too long ago. Fix about 4 things and another 4 things go wrong with it. He still didn't seem too care cause he enjoys the car, but now with the starter going out and the coolant keeps disappearing he's about had it with the car.
