dimmer switch led?????

ok so i was driving home one night and i noticed that the dimmer icon has an led! ive had the car for almost 2 years now and it randomly turned on.

.........but then it went back out

so i was bored at school today and replaced it with a blue led leftover from the interior led conversion.

i tested it first with an led and it lit up then blew out
so i had to use a resistor, then solder it in there.

it looks really good, anyone else done this?

Um, why don't you just try it out...? If it's an LED, just desoder the old (or clip the leads) and solder in the new one.

What's the big deal?

He's the OP. He wants to know if anyone else tried it and had the same success he did.

That was the first thing i did when i bought my car back in august. I did it to my 3rd gens too. Its originally a 12v bulb, so you have to add a resistor to the circuit when you add the led.

Yea I did that to my 99 in red. I only did it because I was sick of the damn bulbs blowing. I did the same to my window switches, and heated seat switches

Could some one post a little more information about this. I would not have a clue as to where to even start on this project. I assume the led is located inside the stick, but how do you get to it? What bulb would I need? And since the dimmer stick lights up, does the wiper stick also light up?

Huh? What stick? It's either an LED that needs replacing or a bulb you need to replace with an LED + a resistor. I can't remember which.

It's pretty easy if you have a soldering iron. Go through the stickies and you'll find links to some "how-tos)

I guess after reading my own post, I did not make much sense. Where is the led located inside the dimmer switch? And how would I go about disassembling the dimmer switch to replace this led? Also I never heard if there is also a led for the wiper switch. Is there a write up on this that I am just not finding?

The LED is located on the left side of the dimmer switch, if you hare looking at it from the drivers seat.
To take the switch out, simply get a flat-head screw driver and place it behind the switch as best you can(without scratching it) and pry it out. The take a small flat-head(two is easier) and on the edges of the switch there will be little clips to lift up so you can take it apart.
From there, just replace the LED, and re-assemble.
There is not an LED for the wiper switch.

Oh, and i also did mine in blue, it looks sexy! haha
