His problem won't necessarily be the same as yours. Follow some of the advice given in this thread and diagnose your specific problem.

Again it has nothing to do with my problem. I was just wondering if he got not fixed and what fixed it. He stated that he would come back and tell everyone if he got it fixed. He didnt do that. I was wondering if it was because he didn't fix it or if he did what did he do.

It's really cold
here in MA, so you can hear it quite noticeably.

OEM would have to come from either Hitachi or Nissan. Nissan only sells rebuilt alternators and starters now, not new ones.

i had my last napa alty for 5 years, when it died, just took back the core and got another, free! why buy oem when the difference is almost nill? i mean as old as our cars are getting to be, is it really worth it? die hard max op like cs ar who does a total rebuild that makes sense. no loss of power from a napa at all.

Well, I don't want to disappoint ya, but my last alternator purchase was a Bosch rebuilt from NAPA about this time last year. So far so good. Before that, I had been using Advance Auto's house brand that was supposed to have been a Remy Rebuilt or something like it.. Who knows? It may also be a Remy Rebuilt in a different box.

Did you install it yourself? If yeah then its A good deal....but 200 dollar install at least every few years nah....my oem one lasted 15 years bro. But your right if he only rocking it a few years then get the cheap one.

Hitachi is the manufacturer of the alternator used on the 4th gen Maximas. It is no longer manufactured. Rock Auto (and everyone else) does not have a brand new OEM alternator for the Maxima. The Hitachi alternator on Rock Auto is labeled as remanufactured.

If you buy an alternator or starter through Nissan, the part number will have the letter R on the end of the part number, which means remanufactured.

and as i stated before, our cars are old so nissan doesn't make new everything for them anymore. we are so lucky that we can still buy so many oem parts, my 07 sonata is only 10 years old and already i can't get a ton of accessory's and they stopped making a lot of oem parts for it years ago. my dad says to me, " when are you going to get rid of the maxima? of course anyone who has owned one of these knows the answer, never!!!!
