OMG... I thought I knew everything...little help

Ok, the old guys here might remember me, but I haven't been around for awhile. Getting another Maxima soon though. Found a 98 SE 5spd fully loaded, but I have a question. Is the rear spoiler light supposed to flash when you break??? I am confused, I don't rember this happening on any Maximas before??

thanks for help :-)

My 96 OEM spoiler didn't flash. You said you found a 98 SE, sounds like it's aftermarket or the previous owner wired it to flash.

Actually it's not illegal some of the newer cars actually come stock with the third brake light or spoiler light flash function. I guess it's supposed to reduce your chances of getting rear ended.

I've got a '98 SE 5-speed with a Factory spoiler, and, no, the cyclops does not blink.

That is an aftermarket add-on. Some dealers put them on and try to sell tham as a "safety feature." They just bug the crap out of me. If you can, get them to take it out before you buy it.

Thats what I thought. Yep, this guy seems to want to sell this car bad so he is already taking out door dings and scratches and the pen stripes, so I guess I will add that to the list too.

It is fully loaded 98 5spd SE... Leather, Bose, Moon Roof, ect. 56,000 miles Mystic (old one was Black ) And as of now I have him down to 14,547 plus TTT

So does that sound good to all my fellow maxima owners?? I looked it up several different places and that looks to be a nice price

What's up Clint! Not getting a 2002 any more? I'm picking mine up on Monday .

As for the flashing light, my 98 I30T does not do that so like every one else said it is not something that came with the car. This raises the question, why does the car have a aftermarket spoiler? SE's come standars with a spoiler.. so why would there be a aftermarket one on there? Possibly the car was rear ended or the oem spoiler got jacked? You should look into this. As for the price, it's OK but not great. Have you tried www.autotrader.com yet? Theres tons of cars on there, usually you can find a great deal on there. Good luck bro..

Whats going on Ehtan I did try autotrader.com but couldn't find a better price As for the spoiler, I believe it is OEM with some sort of pulser insalled to make it flash??? But I am going to check out the car fax and make sure it hans't been in a reck. Drives fine though, haven't noticed much wrong with it excpet a slight pull to the right. The tires need to be balanced and rotated.

As for the 2002, I am holding off for a bit. I have decided I am going to get a house within a year or so with the rates as low as they are. A 6spd will be in my garage soon there after though

Haven't decided if I am getting this 98 5spd SE yet, but it will be a 5sp SE when I do get one lol

Later bud, and CONGRATES on the 2002

Deal is Almost DONE

Well, I am signing the papers Monday and picking the car up on Wednesday. I would like to say though, after having a 96 SE auto previously, and now about to have this 98 SE 5spd, that I am going to be much much happier with the 5spd too bad I still have to wait on the 6spd lol

I wired mine to the brake lights so they do flash. But coming out of the factory I thought all spoiler lights were supposed to flash when the brake is applied.

The spoiler light is supposed to light up when the break is applied, but it isn't supposed to flash over and over while the break is being held down. That was the problem
