Garmin GPS friction mount?

Has anyone used a Garmin friction dashboard mount for their GPS? I recently ordered a Nuvi 760 and was wondering about picking up this mount instead of dealing with the suction-cup-on-the-windshield routine. So, does anyone know if this thing actually sticks to the dash in a 4th gen? Thanks!

I've used one in my 4th gen. I was surprised how well it worked. I think it slid off only once during a 400+ mile trip, on an overly aggressive turn.

I bought the generic (Nav-mat) friction mount for my Tomtom when I saw one on sale at a Radio Shack. I think it was $20. I use a couple pieces of velcro to hold the GPS in place in the center of the mount.

The Tomtoms are known for their sucky windshield suction cups - mine was constantly falling off, especially in cold weather. The friction mount works fantastic, both in my Max and Mo. It's also easy to just take it off the dash and put it on the floor to discourage break ins when I park the car.

I highly recommend the friction mounts for portable GPS's.

FWIW, it works fine in my 2002, and I like it much better than the suction mount because 1) it doesn't fall off and 2) it is easier to stash the entire thing when you park.
