Did you cut the bumpstops?

Its possible your riding on the bumpstops. S-techs are known to do that, esepcially with the limited amount of travel we already have in the rears.

^^im actually on bumpstops only.the rest of it was in terrible condition.but the fronts are doing good and there is an extra bounce on the rear right when backing into my garage,so I know of one side for sure that its bad.

I bought Illuminas from this same guy on ebay several years ago. The struts are still going strong. He seems like a reputable guy so hopefully he'll treat you right.

So, i heard from Jdmwerks13 today and the reason for the blown shock was because the shaft was scratched which then caused the rubber seals to rupture after being compressed. This voided the warranty, and now i basicaly feel screwed.

Cost for 2 more is $208 shiped.

Didn't you earlier say you didn't install dustboots? Don't you think it's possible that rocks or debris came in contact with the strut piston?

Unless the ride was like this IMMEDIATELY upon installation, this sounds like the cause. Install dustboots. I've been on Illuminas purchased from jdmwerks12 for two years now with no problems whatsoever.

Dustboots were NOT installed and its totally possible that debris got in contact. However, there was a missing part the first time installation was done, which caused the ride to be horrible. Few days later, it was corrected, but ever since then, day-by-day i realized something just wasnt right. The shock was dead dead dead when i shipped it off.

I got to remember all this when my car goes in for the install. I will stay on top of the shop doing the job.

yep my illuminas are blown too. It felt exactly like described. Took them all off and put the factory ones back in for now. Ill post a video or somethin to show how bad they were. Two years old, and driven carefully, I make sure not to hit potholes and stuff like that. My stock ones are still pretty good and theyre 12 years old. this shouldnt have happened with the illuminas. sux

Snypa are they sending the blown ones back to you, did you notice any scrathes on the piston rod???? I bought mine from there couple years ago but mine were installed incorrectly numerous times and seem to be fine. after shabby installs if mine blew tomorrow I would just take the lost. Sorry for you though and be EXTRA careful this install

Yeah, they are suppose to be sending them back and then i gotta save up again to replace those *****es. Scratches were on the piston because vise grips were used on the shaft to prevent it from spinning.^^

Why would you do that to brand new shocks?
Did they not have the little edge on the top of the threaded portion to grab?
