Stock Alarm Going off randomly
So i have searched all over this forum before posting this. I Found one thread but no one answered the guys question. Hopefully someone will reply back to mine.
So my car alarm will randomly start going off for no reason. a few days ago it was going off for about 10 minutes until I heard it so i went outside and unlocked the door and locked it again and as soon as I stepped my foot back inside my house it starts going off again. so i did the same thing and this time when i locked it I tried to make it go off myself. I was banging on the hood, banging all over the car, kicking the wheels. I even rocked the car violently. So i went back in and 10 minutes later its going off again. so now I basically have to leave the car unlocked so it wont go off and annoy my neighbors. They think throwing an egg at my car will make it go off. I dont live in the nicest area to leave my car unlocked either.
Anyway. Has anyone had any of these types of problems before? Anyone got any suggestions?
Oh yea when it goes off it will go off for about 2 hours if no one touches it.

Check your door sensors (the rubber ones that tell you on the dash when a door is open)
Stock alarm DO NOT have motion sensors it will only go off when someone opens a door, trunk, or hood while alarm is armed.

There is no motion or shock sensor on the factory alarm. You can rock it and shake it all you want, nothing will happen.
Check the door switches, hood pin and trunk switch - those are the triggers.

Piece of **** 4th gen stock alarms. Man, I just disconnected that *****. Mine was doing the same thing for no apparent reason. Over and over and over again....I was gonna take it to the shop and have them remove it and install an aftermarket one. I think I'll do that next weekend. That noise was deafening!!!

It's not the alarm itself, it's most likely one of the 4 switches inside the doors that arm the alarm system. This was a common problem back in 94 when the 95's first came out. There was a TSB to address the problem. If I remember right (it WAS over 14 years ago that the dealer I bought from fixed mine, under warranty, of course) per the TSB they just replaced all 4 switches. I'm pretty sure moisture was somehow getting into the switches, shorting one of them out, and randomly triggering the alarm system.
Over 14 years and 200K miles since the repair, my alarm system has worked perfectly. I'm guessing yours is the same problem - it just took longer to show up.

After leaving my car in the airport parking lot for 5 days, I get back to discover that the battery is completely dead. Because the horn just starts going off for no reason whatsoever sometimes, and no lights were left on, I think it was honking for days until the battery was drained. While I was waiting for AAA to rescue me, I noticed that the relay for the horn, under the hood, was clicking. Has anyone else noticed this with their car?? And is that part of the crummy stock alarm? I have an aftermarket alarm installed, so if I pull out the security fuse under the hood will it be affected?
