So my map and dome lights were missing bulbs. I put a bulb in them and only the mdome light worked. So just to try something new I bought a led board from v-leds that had the bulb adapter. I just soldered the wires directly to the switch. Now...the map light only comes on when the car is on and the driver side door is shut. Is that how it is supposed to operate, or is there something funky happening?

if you soldered the wires to the switch when the assembly was still in the car, or connected to the electrical system, it's possible you damaged the BCM.
Just a thought.

 

nah. of course I took the switch to my room and then did the work and but it back in.
