Fender Mounted Blinkers

I own a 99 maxima and i searched and wasnt able to find anything on mounting a blinker on the fenders. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and also what you guys think about the idea. Im pretty sure it wouldnt cost too much and it seems like it would be a fun project.

All Australian Maxima's from 91 (I think) have them standard, 3rd gens, 4th gens, all of them.
You should be able to track down some pictures maybe on here, or CarDomain, or somewhere atleast, otherwise I can take a pic for ya if ya wanna see what it looks like.
3rd Gen's have round blinkers (I have a few for sale), 4+ Gen have rectangular shaped.

If you think that you would like the looks of it go ahead but personally I don't know if they would look great on our year maximas.

You'll have to cut/drill into your fenders and hook them into your bumper lights.

There are a bunch of people who'll tell you it's ricey, but if you want to do it, installation isn't bad. Mr****s95SE has them, you can see what they look like.

Heres aquick question for anyone who can answer yes or no. On my 97 GLE didn't come with factory fogs but has harnesess in the appropriate spaces, but there is no seperate on/off ring on my headlight arm, will they turn on with the regular lights if I bought some and plugged them in?
don't jack - post your question in the newbie thread.

I kinda like the idea of the fender light or lighting up for that matter. My idea involved a set of Z-3 style fenders and a light barmounted inside to the chassis to the turn signals so when you turn the slots on the fender lit up. I know it might sound cheesey to some but its something different, and I personally haven't seen it done.

My idea is just using a VW style rectangle blinker. i dont think it is cheesy mainly because it is unique which is what i want to do with my car, so i proposed this idea.

yeah. i figured it would take some sort of drilling or cutting, which i would have to get right the first time i do it. that gets me kind of scetchy but no risk no reward. Do you think it is ricey?

Doesn't matter what I think, it's your car.

IMO, it's not the riciest thing, but it's kinda a European car thing to do...

In that case, do a DIY Write up!!

Though its pretty easy to do you should have no problem attempting it. I would take fender off when I attempt that way it'll be easier to work with.

I know of quite a few stock Japanese cars with them, in Japan and other parts of the world. Two examples, Z31 300ZX (not in the US though), and Subaru Impreza's. IIRC, Mitsubishi Mirage's have them as well.

When my friend first got her 3-Series, I came across clear turn signals for the fenders. I thought about getting some to put on my Acura at the time. Maybe I should put a set of these on the Max...

Ah great idea! I think fender mounted blinkers would make your car look like a BMW with the right body. Then just throw on some side mirrors with lights and you've got the BMW look haha.

If I were to do it, it wouldn't be to make the look like a BMW. I think the lights would have looked good on the Acura ('92 Legend) with the clear front lights I had on it. Since I just blacked out the lights on my Max two weeks ago, I doubt I'll be installing additional lights any time soon.

Aww... you could blackout the side lights too to match the rest of the lights haha
But I liked the idea, just not the part where we had to drill into the fenders

no one likes drilling holes on the outside of there maxima where if something goes wrong it is very complicated to fix.

its pretty damn easy to do. Drill to tiny holes for the wire to go through, wire it up to your blinker. Id say the hardest part is picking out where u want it to go and measuring. I used them for a bit, now they are blacked out and not in use cause I got blinkers on the side mirrors and both would have been too much, was too much.

So you actually just glue the lights on to the car? Well, now I feel a lot more comfortable about drilling a hole for the lights.

Its kind of like someone asking you to give them a shot with a needle, you have no clue where to start or how to do it even though the general idea is super simple.
