hey guys,
I am interested in a 96 SE, 5 speed with 101k miles. It has tan leather with heated seats and autoclimate control.
I know it has a lot of miles for the year, so im asking is there anything important that could break at this mileage? How long do the clutches usually last?
The guy selling is asking $10400. I have not test drove it yet, but im assuming everything runs fine.
I have alsways loved Maximas am I cant wait to have one in my driveway.
For the record, I am currently a VW enthusiast (but i love all cars). Im always on the VWVORTEX forums, but i think this forum is much better.
Thanks in advance!

SOunds like a great car >>>>>>
but I would see if he can come down on the price. Don't worry about the engine, they last forever just as long as the oil changes and regular maintanence has been done. I have a 95 SE with 107K miles and it still runs like it was new, does not burn any oil. The 5 speed clutch is the weak point, but you can always upgrade it to a high performance clutch. Just make sure that you get a mechanic to look over it, and try to get the price down a little, but over all it looks like a great buy. Good Luck !!!!!!!

Hey
Hey,
I too am looking for a used Max, i still havnt found her yet. Im waiting for the perfect car.
I blue booked the one you want and it was at 10,900 so the price he wants is under blue book, which is nice.
If you want me to check the car for any crashes, i subscribed to one month of carfax which checks the VIN#, so just email the VIN and ill check it out for ya, if you want.

I think the price is decent for that car.. you should try to get around a thousand off though. As far as the milage i'd say condition is way more important than milage, if everything looks good and drives well you should be fine. Check out how the clutch feels that might need replacing depending on how the car was driven, but since it's a 96 it's prob a lot of highway miles. My max has a little less miles than that one and the clutch seems like it'll last for some time (ohheyea.. i learned to drive stick on it)

I think you could do better on the price, but it is a fair deal. As far as high mileage, I wouldn't worry too much about it. All the stuff (thermostat, starter, ignition switch, O2 sensor) that has gone out on my car has been cheap, and I'm at 121k. The clutch is the main high $$$ item that I would look at.
