Throttle Position Sensor Help

I just replaced my TPS today and now the car (97 Auto SE fed spec) is worse off. I am having problems with a rough idle and I can't figure it out.

Anyways, I put the new TPS on and had it on the lowest idle setting and when I accelerate the car only revs to around 1900-2000 then falls flat on its face. What the heck is going on here? I must of screwed something up, but I have no idea. Is this some kinda of safe mode?

My current codes are 0701 Multi Cyl Misfire, 0807 EVAP Canister purge control valve/soenoid valve circuit, and 0201 Ignition Signal Circuit. I've replace plugs and coils and I have cleaned the TB and IACV.

I hope someone is able to help despite this crummy explaination, I am limited in my automotive vocabulary.

Thanks

Usually, when a Nissan doesn't rev above 2000 RPM, it is caused by a faulty MAF sensor (the one between the air filter and throttly body).

Take it off and reinstall it. Theres a tab on the backside thats spring loaded. When you put it on it was to have a bit of tension on it. Just look at it and youll see what I mean. I had this same problem a few years ago.

Thanks for the quick answers guys. Yeah, I went out and looked at it again and I did install it backwards. I must have to do some more adjusting with it however because now it is idling smooth (relatively) but it is at 1200 RPM!!

I also checked the codes again and now the multi cyl misfire is gone and instead I am showing cyl 5 misfire in addition to the other two. I replaced that coil about a week ago so now I am thinking injector. I am hesitant to pull the manifold with my auto skills.

I still have a new crankshaft position sensor yet to be installed, does anyone think that could be a part of my problem?

if it was the cps than your car wouldnt run at all if that wasnt working...but as for the multi cyl missfire...when you put the coil in did you check for how the wires and plugs were suposed to go in and for the idle adjust the small screw that the throttle hits a little lower and that should help your problem there...

Why did you replace the TPS? Were you getting an error code for it?
There is an adjustment procedure for it, search on here.
You will need a multi meter and a feeler gauge to set it up correctly.
