CLutch issues..

I noticed yesterday that I had a lot of freeplay in the clutch travel, and it seemed to be pretty notchy getting in gear at times. This morning, I got to the first stop and could not get it in gear. Almost COMPLETE free play..travels all the way to floor. Came home (barely), adjusted pedal free play - nothing. But, noticed clutch reservoir MT! I've searched and read some threads on here. Going to re-fill and bleed system. What else can I check? Or is the slave just shot? Thanks! ...pushing 169K, original clutch, etc..

check and make sure your reservoir is not empty and if it is, make sure you fill it up and bleed the clutch. most likely its leaking and some air must have made it to the clutch line, causing your peddle to go all the way down. so try and bleed it and get back to us if you need to.

I had similar symptoms last year. Turned out to be a small split in the line coming out of the clutch reservoir.

Yea ... I'd say you lost a seal in the slave or the master cylinder. Rebuild kits are cheap and easy and can save you lots of $$$. It could be the line or banjo bolt too, just gotta see if you can find any wet spots and track it down. G'luck!

I assume by 'MT' you couldn't type the 3 extra letters and mean empty? Fill it up, actuate the clutch a bit and see if you can't find a leak. It's likely at the banjo bolt junction on the lower line.

I filled it and tried to bleed it. Would get some old dark fluid out in small spurts..w/ some new. The pedal only comes off the floor a few inches and has to be pulled back. It never got to the point of pushing solid fluid. I am guessing there is a significant leak elsewhere. I saw some fluid on the transmisson near the lower banjo..not sure if coming from there or not. My 12mm seems to big, 11mm too small, but the nut seems pretty tight. I'll have to carefully pressure wash tomorrow and look for leaks. It slips in gear just fine w/ motor off but cant do anything w/ it running. Any other suggestions appreciated. Did my best not to abbreviate anything
Thanks, guys!

P.S. Guy at Advanced Auto priced out master/slave for $98. Should I just get and replace these as well...whether or not I find a leak?
