P0136 even with o2 simulator?

For a long time, I was driving around with a code for a bad rear o2 (P0136). I finally got my o2 sim in the group deal a month ago, installed it, and the code was gone.

Fast forward to a couple days ago when I installed my NWP spacers - the install went without a hitch and after a couple quick fixes, the car idled and ran beautifully. After about an hour of driving, I pulled a code - lo and behold, it was P0136 again. I checked my o2 sim and it was working (it was getting power at least, the LED was on lol). Reset the light and it came back 15 miles down the road.

My question is: Are there other reasons that the ECU might throw this code? EGR related maybe? I don't see how this code could pop up with an o2 simulator, but I have a feeling it's something I messed with while installing the spacers.

I also got p0136, I dont have a cat since my car was headed straight to the JY before I saved its life... I just went to a muffler shop and got a pipe welded on there and I've had P0136 since then. Would like to get rid of that code as well and heard of o2 sims recently.

How many miles did you have the o2 sim installed and working prior to the NWP? Can you point me in the direction to where I can get one of these sims?

Scanned ECU earlier today (just got rid of my governor by using 95 SE 5spd ecu) to make sure i had no crazy codes, still the same: P0136,P0150, P1400.. bla o2 sensors lol

Anyone have an idea? I'm checking the resistance at the o2 sim tomorrow but beyond that what could it be?

I think the O2 sim only does the actual reading corrections. The heater would still have to go through the O2. If your O2 isn't heating, then you need to change the O2.

If I recall correctly...

I have the simulator wired so it's heating the o2 sensor still installed in the exhaust.

Bump...tested the o2 simulator and the signal wire's putting out a steady .4-.5 mV as it should. Any ideas at all?

Just a thought - the O2 simulator I recently installed on a 2002 Sentra would cause the output signal to cycle between .34 -.65 volts when operating. I think it is more important for the ECM to see a reasonable change in output voltage, rather than a steady signal that does not change much.

I still wanna know where I can get an O2 Sim! I finally fixed my two front O2 sensors which were giving me P0150 and P0130 but now the dormant P0136 is awake and I dont have a cat so I think a sim might be the better idea. Any suggestions?

You are driving without a cat?? I wonder how that sounds....

Also, what do you do for emissions inspections??

95 is the best of both worlds here in Illinois. Emissions testing only applies to vehicles after 96. So i have obd2 and I dont have to get my car tested.

As for the sound, you can copy and paste my name onto youtube and watch a few videos with the max in them.

Back to the O2 simulator question, anyone have suggestions?

Guys who are having these o2 sensor codes re-appearing after new installs make sure you check your fuse for the o2 sensor also. they do tend to blow once in awhile and cause a o2 sensor code to show up.

The thing is... I actually DONT have a sensor back there lol

I bought my car without a cat sawed off so I just went to a mom and pop muffler shop and paid 30 bucks for them to weld a pipe there. I dont even know if there's a harness hanging there ugh, guess I gotta check tomorrow

Sorry for posting info not related to your problem ColombianMax. But doing some research on your situation I found a post in the 5th gen section that relates to 4th gens also... First is a site where you can purchase simulators http://www.o2simulator.com/ and second is a thread of instructions on installing the simulator. http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...tallation.html I've never do this so don't hold me responsible.... Hope it's what you're looking for.

if you get underneath the car from the driver's side door location you should see a rubber piece going into the body of the car. that's where the o2 harness should go. there's (or was) a connector there it clips into.
