3.0 coil packs on vq35?

Anyone know if the vq30 coil packs can be used on the vq35?
I have spare 3.0 coils and i'm getting a misfire on the 3.5

I was wondering if I can swap the 3.0 ones in.

It came up as the same part number on courtesyparts.com.

You can, but I'd just do it as a temporary solution. I've done it before with the spare VQ30 coils in my box to diagnose misfires on a Z33.

I don't even see how that's possible, considering they end their part codes with the chassis code. Unless you checked for the A33, but even then; the VQ30 coils have two mounting bolts, the VQ35 only have one.

Unless you mean the first 5 digits, which is only the part code. Coil packs for any car will all begin with the same part code, same for oil filters, flywheels, etc.

Just curious as to why you said I can use it as a temporary solution. Is it because it wont bolt up to the valve cover or is there another, more serious issue?

I don't remember if they'll bolt up or not.

They may very well last forever on there, I never ran the engine for more than a minute or two with a VQ30 coil on there. Yea, I guess you could leave it on there as a permanent solution, and just grab a new VQ35 coil if you ever have any problems with it.

FWIW the 3.0 coils will work just like pmohr stated. I have driven with them for a day now and the misfire is gone. The only issue I had was that the 3.0 coils sit about 1/2 inch higher which means you have to find longer bolts to secure the coil packs to the valve cover. I only used the front coils.
