O/d Buttin not working

My 4thgen has about 216k on it original tranny with vb mod and large tranny cooler. For the past month ive noticed that when i hit the button for o/d to remain off nothing happens. Which is important for me to hold 3rd for those 140 spurts every now and then. I noticed if the buttin is off and im in reverse of neutral it will flash acouple of times. Is it just the tcm or what???

If you shake the shifter around, does the OD Off light turn on? Did you do any work in the area (take out the radio, center console, etc) before this started happening?

It's likely just a loost connection under the shifter.

My shift handle was broken under the rubber cover. The wire they used for the OD button is a stiff single stran wire. If your **** can be moved around on top of the shifter, the wire is probably broken. You can pop out the OD switch and verify. Mine was broken where I couldn't see it--so I just ohmd it out. I took it off the whole handle, and ran a piece of coat hanger up the side of the shift rod between the rubber and the and the metal rod. I hooked a piece of 16 gauge wire to the end of the stiff wire and pulled it up. I just attached the new wire to the button and reassembled. Make sure you don't break the other wire--it doesn't give you much play. Or just run two wires and don't worry about it. Before you do that, make sure you have power to the switch.

Easy fix.. I also used some plastic weld to repair the inside of the shifter ****. Shifter is tight and doesn't flex, and OD works..
