Muffler is rusting out, should I replace w/ OEM or aftermarket?

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted any questions on this great forum. The maxi pad has been doing great (just hit 200K), but some wear and tear items are starting to go. The muffler apparently has a small hole, so I've been wondering whether I should just replace it with an OEM muffler, or go with some decent aftermarket setup. I have a Budget Y-Pipe installed, with no other exhaust mods. I'm looking for something that will NOT sound ricey at all. I used to have a list of what I figured was a really nice setup at the time. Can anyone chime in on any of this? What are you experiences with the different muffler brands/models out there?

Thanks in advance - I love this forum.

Stickies - http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...und-clips.html

And aftermarket or OEM replacement is completely up to you, not like we can make that decision for you.

I do remember visiting that thread - unfortunately, it seems like YouTube is having issues, as I'm getting "We're sorry, this video is no longer available" for everything. Not only that, a lot of those links have been dead for a while.

I guess what I should've asked is:

What kind of exhaust setup do you have on your car, and how do you like it?

Go for an aftermarket one with a nice tip. My muffler is also rusting through, but I'm sure it can wait a month or two.

$400 is out of the question. In fact, I don't really have to replace it, but I would like to. The most I'm looking to spend is between $100-$150 - the labor is not an issue as I get quasi-free work from my father in law.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I guess I should have mentioned... I backed into a wall a few weeks ago, and the tip bent slightly and turned to the right. I don't think it's anything that can't be "un-bent" - the damage is pretty minor, IMO. Do you have this particular brand muffler? Does it sound nice?

If all you need is a muffler.

5th gen oe muffler. People on here sell them for $40. They are less restrictive than the 4th gen.

I would suggest you find a sound you like. Aftermarket will give you more choice.
