Price of new stock springs
Price of new stock springs
Yup.....stock springs. And new ones at that. I've inquired a few times in the 4 sale section for used stock 5 speed front springs but nary a reply so I figured I'd inquire about the cost and location of brand spanky new ones. If they're not found at nut crunching dealer prices, I may even go for a fresh set of stock automatic rears while I'm at it (as I've got an auto).
Y'all may be wondering why I just don't go aftermarket, say with H&R's or High Techs but if you saw my road you'd know. That ***** is dirt and and is muddier and ruttier than a bastard right now so any reduction in ride height, I'd peel my underbelly right off. Don't be needin any of that nonsnese so I figured I'd stay stock (as I like the comfort of them anyways) and paired with some Illumina's, I'm thinking the ride will be pretty decent (and reduce my front gap in the process)
So any idea's of where I can find some fairly cheap new stockers for a 99 SEL? 5 Speed fronts and auto rears? Rig's got 127k on it and the stock rears may have plenty of life in em yet but I reckon new might be better than old.

Rear springs (same for auto and manual):
55019-43U22, $117.89 each at Courtesy
5MT front spring:
54010-31U23, $114.49 each at Courtesy
Dave's prices will probably be a little cheaper, but you're going to need to find used fronts to make it more cost effective than an extremely mild drop aftermarket spring. FWIW your rears are more than likely exactly the height they were from the factory, springs don't tend to sag.
That, or you could use OEM replacement aftermarket springs, they should be cheaper. Check your local parts stores. A quick of AZ shows the Moog front coils to be right around the same price.
RockAuto has a new pair of 5MT front springs for $75. Interestingly enough, it also shows interchange for 4th (IIRC) gen Camry springs...never knew that before. That's the Husky brand, PN SC20248.

Thanks for the direction Pmohr. Great suggestions. I"ll give Dave B a call to get an idea on the price. Curious though, how do you suppose the aftermarket replacements compare in quality and spring rates to the OEM's?

Could be wrong (and someone correct me if I am) but I'm thinking that the GXE spring rate is about 50lbs lighter than the SE rates (200 v. 250)
