Anyone hear of this intake?

Its called a Spectre cone filter and they have them at Autozone for $20.

The only thing you should buy from autozone is cleaning supplies and rags!

I have one. It sounds good, but I can't tell any perfomance increases.

Why is it a waste? Does it not filter the air like an air filter should?

I've seen it, it pretty decent. I believe you should buy some K&N oil and oil it first before installing it. I'm planning on getting it whenever I decide to buy the 3" adaptor which isn't anytime soon.

I'll say go for it if you want just want an air filter. air filter is nothing but to filter out dirty elements.

There is really no need to buy the adapter if you use the BrianV air filter mod, right? I mean your stock airbox has the adapter inside it. You could line the seal between the MAF and adapter with foam weather strip. I looked on my airbox and there were no sensors, so it would be a very easy install.
