Blower Fan

First I did a search, and it seems no one asked this exact question.

My blower fan recently works only sometimes. I have a hammer in my car to hit it (under the glove box) and then it starts up again.

This means it's not a fuse but I need a new blower fan motor, correct?

Also recently my headlights have been working weirdly too, sometimes they come on then shut off, then start working again.

ok well I did more research, called around

140 bucks to replace the motor without the wheel.

I took up the glove box and found out how difficult is it to remove the cover.

I'm not sure if it's worth replacing, since my car is a 1996, with 270,000km on it....

may just buy a new vehicle

There is always a junk yard you can go get one for cheaper with everything you need.

Buy a new vehicle becuase your blower does not work all the time?

If thats all thats wrong with it I would just replace the blower, its really not too difficult.

The motor is in the open, I don't see why it is difficult to remove.
A replacement motor at the local parts store is $79 US.

Just go to a salvage yard and get a whole new fan assembly. I got one for 30 bucks and it had the problem you describe above so i had them give me another and it works fine now.

Its very easy to remove although mine had some broken clips so the plastic pieces that run along both ends don't fit on but it works fine without them and i can idle all day in the hot sun. (not that i recommend that)

Don't know if it's a Canadian term, but what the hell is a whipper?

If you have to hit the blower motor itself, then it's not going to be a power problem upstream. Check the connections at the blower motor, otherwise replace it.

Hi All,

Need an advise, please: Air conditioner fan on my Nissan Maxima '95 is acting bizarre. It works for an hour or so, then stops and would not run, then starts again.
I was told it could be relay, wiring to the blower motor, a plug connector, the pressure switch, and more. Sears told me it is dead fan motor, but then it would not go on and off, right?
It is 117 in Phoenix :-( Please help

Are you referring to the blower motor or the cooling fans on the radiator?

because it is intermitant i would recomend trying to recreate the problem at home. when you do this keep a mutimeter handy. as soon as the problem starts, backprobe the conector to the blower motor. if its still getting power its the motor, if not you get to hunt down a problem in the circuit.

Its the blower motor or the resitstor, a new blower motor on ebay is like 50 bucks usd and a resistor is about the same if your going to junk a car for a bm or resistor thats crazy..... and the wipers are prolly just a wiper motor....
