Tem switch electrical issue

My Temp gauge has not been working for some time since buying the car.
I recently changed both the temp sensor and the temp control switch but ran into an issue. The little plug that connects to the temp switch is broken. Cable disconnected from the harness.

Obviously i need to replace it. But it has a long cable and i dont know where it connects to. Thinking of splicing and reconnecting to a new one. Any ideas on how to fix for good.

Thanks in advance.

By 'temp switch' are you referring to the ECTS, or the gauge cluster temp sensor?

Basically, the two pin connector or the spade connector?

Just find a spade connector that'll fit the gauge cluster temp sensor, and put it on the remaining length of harness that's left.

Preferably clamp it on, then run some solder through it to ensure a good connection. And even better will be a spade connector with a rubber boot over it.

Thats the problem. Its disconnected at the harness. The harness is also cracked and broken. Id rather change all.

This is the part that the harness is broken for.

The only way to change out that specific harness is to either rip open the engine control harness, or get a whole new engine control harness.

So there's absolutely no wire left where it comes out of the main harness? Nothing for you to splice into at all?

Can you take a picture?

The only thing you can do if it is indeed as you describe is open up the engine control harness and join up to whatever part of the wire is left.

Ok i finally got the pic. It stopped raining. Here it is.

Let me know what you think. The cable is hanging off to the side. It broke from up top.

Thanks for all your help.

Can't really tell much from the pic, odd angle and grainy, can't even see the remainder of the harness.

But if it did indeed completely break off at the engine control harness, like I said you only have two options; open it up and solder to the remainder of the harness, or run a new wire all the way inside the car.
