Break in - Window regulator question

My car just recently was broken into the rear window was smashed in. I called a few glass places including the dealership and thought about fixing it my self but didn't have the time. So i took it to the dealership because they had the part. They called me today and they say the window regulator was broken when the car was broken into. Now i'm up over $700

Those who have had break ins has the regulator broken on you? I feel like it's highly unlikely because there was no evidence of the window being forced down. I'm surprised the dealer would do this.

Should i call the dealership and tell them to put the parts in the backseat because i'm coming to pick it up to fix it myself or do they know what they are talking about and should i just let them fix it?

you can get a regulator on here for 30-40 bucks from someone parting out a car. Its a simple job that you can do yourself.

You can also find the glass on here or at a junkyard for 30-60 bucks. Don't waste your money at the dealer.

the window regulator shouldn't really break. and yea, if you pay $700 for a $60 window and a $30 window regulator, i can do nothing but call you a chump.

I replaced one on my 3rd gen max. It's not that hard. I bought mine off of ebay for less than $50. I would buy a used one in the classifieds here on the forum. There are tons of cars being parted out.
