few questions in 1 thread. clock din, keyless fob etc

well i finally got my damn window situation solved (sort of, but it works wonders for now.) the issue was the motor AND the switch went out, go figure right? anyways now on to other issues....

my clock goes in and out real bad, and i know this is an issue and always will be even after purchasing a new one. well my aftermarket headunit displays the time for me so i was wondering what you guys thought i could put in the clock din instead of the clock. has anyone tried this before? (i couldnt find anything on searching) i would absolutely love to get a basic compass that just says N E S W or maybe even something that has the outside temp or both. but its a small space to work with and i kinda looked around with no luck. so what are your thoughts?

my keyless entry fob seems to be dying. when i got the car 2 years ago the trunk button and the panic button never worked but the lock and unlock did a-ok until a couple of days ago. it seems to lock just fine but not unlock. is this a sign of it dying finally? i replaced the battery about 6 months ago so i kinda figure its not that.

while fixing said window issue it seems that 2 of the snaps dont want to co-operate anymore and this is fine because it looks fine and shuts fine however because the door panel sticks off a little bit the leather on the door panel and the dash rub causing a horrific noise. does anyone have a quick fix for this? i tried messing with the snaps and after stabbing myself with a screwdriver i gave up.

i think thats it for now...

For the door/dash rubbing... I put a very thin piece of foam weatherstripping along the dash to stop the squeaking. Mine has black interior so it's not noticeable at all.

Wait i don't understand what the "snaps not cooperating" issue means. Are you referring to how the door panel uses those little white/yellow pegs to snap into the door skin?

yes exactly. i cant recall the actual names of those things. but pretty much when i went to put the door panel back on they were stuck in the door, so i got them out put them in the panel again and tried to snap the panel back on. well this resulted in the 'snaps' staying in the door again and coming out of the panel.

bleh.

What I did was put a radar detector in place of the clock, worked decently well. Wired it up with a relay to the fogs, so them being on/off turned the radar detector on/off.

As for the keyfob, take it apart and make sure there isn't any crap underneath the rubber cover for the buttons.

Did the doorpanel holes get ripped out or something (what I mean is that are the holes too big for the plastic dowels/pins/whatever they're called?)

I usually have the problem of them staying in the door as well, but they stay in the door panel once I pop everything back together.

There are two "levels" you can insert the plastic pins in the door panel with (different diameters). Maybe try using the bigger one?

ya i put them back in the door and slid them into their proper places but when i pushed the door panel back on it popped back off without the plastic pins in the panel but the door. and as far as i can tell they are not ripped because when i put them in the panel they stayed in just fine and there is no obvious ripping around the hole. and as far as larger ones, were would i look for such a thing? as i would rather fix the initial problem if i can rather than just the rubbing noise.

I may, I'll have to check.

You can't really see anything, though. Just pulled the internals out of the clock and electrical taped (nice ghetto job) the radar detector in place. The only thing it looked like was a dead clock, unless it was starting up or was detecting a signal. Then the lights would shine through the dark window pretty well.

Took it all out a while back, but now that my radio has a clock...

ah ok no sweat. you should def try to mod something in there now as the clock is pretty much useless and ugly anyways, heh.

anyways, ive had my eye on this:
http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Compas...131443&sr=1-11

the only thing is it seems that the lcd by itself, 3"W x 1 3/8"H, would be a good fit but i dunno how hard it would be to disassemble it and mod it to be a good look and all. i really like what that displays though.
