On one hand, it looks a little ricey.

On the other hand, NASCAR drivers have been known to damage their rear bumper cover on purpose, because it creates some drag, so the car is faster without the rear bumper cover.

i'm pretty sure i've seen it done before.

it's pretty ugly and i really gotta wonder if it's necessary. if you're not putting down hundreds of hp over stock i wouldn't even consider it.

Holy CIVIC batman! That's gotta add at least 10 whp....

The weight reduction alone must be huge.
Better aero dynamics at "highway speeds"

I'm looking for my hole saw as I type this.

I have some buddies that drag a hatch civic like the one in the OP. They removed the rear bumper support to reduce weight. The class they run in requires a full body, so the bumper cover must remain; however it becomes a parachute once the support is removed, hence the holes to release some of the pressure.
I dont know of any 100% drag prepped Maximas, therefore there is no reason to drill holes in the rear bumper. If you do, atleast get the billet covers to make it look less crappy.

If you never take your car off the track, go for it. If you drive on the street, don't do it (why would you want to?) There must be better ways to gain a little speed than humiliating a perfectly good automobile.

If you want to fk up a good car then go ahead, but i think you'd be foolish to do. To each their own.....

Don't really see the purpose of this, you're saving like 20 grams?
I know they definitely used to do this back in the day when they had metal bumpers but nowadays its just pointless IMHO.

The idea is that without a foam bumper support, the rear bumper creates a lot of drag, because it's basically a flat piece of metal/plastic with nothing in front of it. Never mind that drag doesn't really become an issue until highway speeds or faster.

well I think we've got our answer about this one . I'd be more interested in panels underneath the car to provide a flat surface all race-car style. I cant explain what I'm trying to say.

there ya go! Of course not quite to that degree, but I can see where you might have to do the whole length of the car if you dont find a good ending point otherwise your still going to get the parachute effect. I guess I was envisioning something axle-back...not sure if it'd work or be worthwhile.

well doing something generally meant to have a purpose and function strictly for appearance reasons is a whole different subject.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I just found a pic of a G20 (kinda big though sorry guys):

It would look terrible on a 4th gen just like it does on that G20.

Actually I think if you put two holes on the left and two holes on the right with a bulging mesh it'll look pretty good! Almost like those body kits with the holes and mesh over them. Although it would look a little tacky, no one is going to know

And what the hell is wrong with the molested cars.com or whatever, there was a honda with a galant spoiler and chrome rims and it was put up on there for being "extremely" rice.... I swear, if you are going to call a car ricey at least pick a car that is easily seen as so. Like cars with giant spoilers... not cars with chrome rims and a reasonably sized galant spoiler... thankyou

If I saw this done to a Max, I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably find the driver and smack some sense into him. That potentially one of the more ricer things I've seen
