One time my trunk was stuck because the trunk cable was hung up/stuck on something that was in my trunk...but that was when I had my trunk liners all pulled off.

What I did to fix it was pull my rear seats and metal panel behind them, climbed into the trunk and played with the cable and latch mechanism with some one pulling on the trunk release...

but anyway I seriously doubt the cable is snapped

If the key doesn't work, then it's not the tab.

Did you do anything to the car immediately prior to the trunk not opening?

You might have flipped the valet lock on the latch before you closed it... You might have top climb in the trunk like previously stated... But try wd40 in the key hole and try the key again??? Dont snap your key!!!!

i removed my rear seats before but not the metal panel. how long does that take? a lot of bolts involved?

Maybe a half dozen bolts, a few more. Actually IIRC it's a mix of 10mm head bolts and nuts.

mine did the same thing. use little screw driver instead of key. it should open. if not, put down the armrest in the back, go through that way, and with a long bar you can reach the latch to pop it open.

While lifting the tab in the trunk have someone push the trunk release button or use the key again after putting the wd-40 in the key hole...

are you saying that will work or saying thats a possibility?

like the latch won't stay up in the open position even when i lift it up.
when i push the release button, the latch opens like halfway and then closes again.

Does the button make a click or no? And what key are you using?

If you're using the master key (the black one), the trunk should open no matter what. Then it may be that the trunk is in valet mode, which is supposed to lock the trunk to the valet key and the button, supposedly keeping you safe from evil valets who want to steal your worldly possessions. Valet mode is controlled by the little silver switch by the latch in this picture:
Quote:
If you are using the master key, go ahead and flip this switch, then try again. If you're using the spare/valet key (the silver one) don't do this - you'll lock the trunk to the key, too.
