Quick question

sorry to go back to this topic again but....i still haven't been able to unlock my trunk after several methods.

question is, if i unbolted the 2 bolts holding the latch, will that unlock the trunk somehow?

yes it should since theres only 2 bolts holding the latch secure, so give it a try, the latch will lift up with the trunk if you do this good luck

sigh...alright i took it apart and it seems like something is jammed.
i'm guessing the little black knub in the first pic is suppose to move whenever i pull up on the latch. however, it doesn't move at all. when i use the key or the unlock button, it doesn't move. i even tried bangin on the knub w/ something but no luck.

anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? do i need a new latch system?

I've never looked at the assembly first hand but in your second picture I see a place where it looks as though there should be a spring installed but I don't see one.

Also, is it possible someone slammed the trunklid down with the latch unexpectedly closed? I have done this on occasion when needing to tie the lid down.

You can see a hole in the 1/4" or so wide bar that runs almost verticaly through the middle of the picture, then to the left and down is something that's hook shaped. It just looks like a spring might belong there but I'm not sure. I'm going to take a quick look in the FSM and then tack an addition a note to the end of this one.

Note: Checked FSM (BT section page 10) and I can clearly see a spring illustrated there. I can't imagine why it wouldn't be there assuming it's never been touched (maybe fatigue?). It does seem unlikely that it would work properly without the spring however.
