2010 4th Gen Calendar Information!

Please read the the rules and information as they have changed since last year!

It's that time again! Start taking your pictures and submitting them! It's starting to get nice outside and I'm gearing up for another summer of fun with the cars and I'm sure many of you are too! I just wanted to let everyone know what the requirements and information for next years calendar!

The calendar will be in an 11X17" format again like it was the first year. Just like last year all picture submitted need to be at least 200 DPI. I would prefer 300 DPI. If your pictures come in anything less it will be tossed out. That's a resolution size of 3400X2200 or 5100x3300. I understand that not everyone has an amazing camera so get with a friend if you have to. Generally if your camera is a point and shoot if you have at least 6 Megapixels your fine. If your camera is less then that please don't modify your picture to meet those resolutions as it will cause the pictures to get distorted and grainy. Send all your pictures in AS IS without modifications! I can take care of all cropping and editing of dents and dings if necessary. Also, sadly, we are not going to allow anyone who was in last years calendar in this year; however, if it comes down to the deadline and we do not have enough quality pictures I accept submissions from past winners.

Here are some general guidelines when taking pictures. If your using a point and shoot digital camera use the lowest ISO that you can, this will provide the best picture and will reduce the amount of noise in the picture. Make sure your camera is using the highest image quality settings. If your using a digital SLR, good for you! You shouldn't have any problems at all. USE A TRIPOD! Especially in low light situations. Use unique locations and angles. Taking equipment like a 6' ladder with you so you can get higher angles. Make sure that any picture you take has at least a 1/2" trim all the way around for picture bleed in cropping and printing.

Submit all images to bezerk2112@gmail.com. You can submit as many pictures as you would like as many times as you would like. With each submission Please include:

Name
Maxima.Org User Name
Vehicle Year
Vehicle Trim
3 of your Favorite Modifications

All your file sizes should be between 2-5 MB or bigger. If you don't have a gmail account, get one! Hotmail accounts, as well as many others, knock down the image quality and file size to send it faster. Gmail won't do that and it can handle large file attachments.

General submission deadline is going to be on October 11th. If I am unable to compile a calendar with what I have I will open the submissions for two weeks to past winners. Official closing deadline will be October 25th. Winners will be posted on October 28th with the calendar being available on November 1st. Plenty of time to get a few for yourself and some for your friends for the holiday season!

Thanks guys and you can contact me if you have any questions. I'll bump this thread every couple of months just as a reminder.

Good Examples From Past Winners! Chosen for their unique locations, angles, and quality.

EDIT!
I have decided to create a board this year to help make decisions on pictures for the calendar. It will be small, about 3-5 people. We have a few people right now but their names are will not be released because I don't want them to be bothered with PM's. If your interested please PM me and tell me why you should be on it and then what kind of camera you have and why.

Ordering Information

Let me start by saying thanks to everyone who participated this year. We had more submissions then any other year, almost half a GB. Not only did we have more to choose from but it was extremely hard to choose winners. I had several org members as part of the board to help choose the winners. After receiving information back from them I found even more people to help review because it was so close. If you didn't make it in this year please don't be discouraged and work hard in 2010 to make it into 2011. Hopefully even I may make it into next years! The cover pic hasn't been finalized yet. I know that we were thinking of doing small pics of everyone who didn't make it in but that would be very time consuming. So the cover shot is going to be a surprise!

In addition to this years winners we have decided to make a tribute to Kevin. On the back of every calendar will be his picture to serve as a memory of his contribution to the Maxima community. Thank you Kevin for all you hard work!

Please read this carefully!
I have tried hard to make these as affordable as possible this year. The total cost out the door is going to be only $18.50! Additional calendars can be purchased at the cost of $14.00 if they are being shipped to the same location. This pricing comes at a huge cost of my own personal time to mail these out individually instead of going through cafe press. This means that the calendars must be pre-ordered! All payments must be made to my PayPal account. When making your payment make sure you choose that your purchasing goods so that your shipping address is included in the receipt I get. If your purchasing additional calendars for other people and would like them sent to them directly please include their address in the notes when making your payment. Please remember that if you are doing this the cost of the additional calendars is $18.50. All calendars are going to be ordered in bulk with maybe 1 or 2 extras. They will take 5 days to process and 3-5 days for shipping before I get them. At that time I will send them all out. You must place your order prior to November 8th! After then you can take your chances with any extras I may end up having. I will have a good idea of how many extras I will have at that time. On November 9th I'm sending it out for print. On December 2nd I will place the calendar up for purchase on CafePress. The cost will a bit higher and you will have to pay shipping so if you want one your best bet is to get it now!

Ordering closes on November 8th!
Please make all payments to PayPal account: bezerk2112@gmail.com
Cost : $18.50
Additional Calendars to Same Location: $14.00
Additional Calendars to Different Location: $18.50

PM me if you have any questions!

Calendar winners can be found on Page 4 post 149 of this thread! Click HERE!
Cover Shot Winner can be found on page 5 post 169! Click HERE!

Zerk, may I suggest proper "thread management" this year? Last year you had over 5 threads on the same subject without any links between them. If you start a new thread replacing this one (not sure why, but you did that a lot last year), at least place a link in here to the new one. Thanks.

Not a problem! I will admit that last year I was kind of crazy on the threads. I felt like I needed to create a new one so it would get noticed instead of ignored. I'll keep the one thread here this year. I've tried to get all the information into this one post but hope that people check it for updates.

There have been some stock Maximas in there in the past. Just follow the guidlines and you may get in.

I have edited the thread to show the submission dates and availability.

It needs to feature the car. Maybe if you did a Bugatti Varon engine swap, then yes!

Me and a buddy of mine are shooting some pics of our cars tonight. But his res is 3008x2000. Not enough? If not I'll wait till next year, when I have more done to my car.

That may be close enough. Go ahead and take some pictures. To insure best quality take them during the day time. Lower quality cameras tend to make the pictures grainy when there is low light.

After second thought it would be cool if we had some nice engine shots. Go ahead and submit them and we'll see what happens, but it has to be calendar worthy. A cleaned or polished stock engine wont make it in.

I'm thinking of putting together a panel for the pictures. That way it's not my bias in the middle. I'll send an invite to some who I think should be on it or if you think you should be on it send me a PM telling me why.

Getting some good pictures guys. Keep them coming. And just an FYI. I wont respond to your submissions. If you sent them to the address listed, I got them. Dont ask if they are any good. You be the judge of that. If you think your pics arent the best, they probably are not. Get some better ones!

Remember to check the first post for updates!

Less then a month left till pictures need to be submitted for this years calendar. As of right now I only have 6 cars to choose from. Please start sending in your pictures so we can make this happen! As a reminder general submission deadline is going to be on October 11th. If I am unable to compile a calendar with what I have I will open the submissions for two weeks to past winners as well. Official closing deadline will be October 25th.

Hopefully the winners will be posted on October 28th with the calendar being available on November 1st. However, the pictures will be going trough a review process with other members on the org, which may push pack these dates.

Thanks for keeping up with this guys and START SENDING DEM PICTURES!

GO!
