ac drier

What are the signs of a bad drier? My car was cooling bad and the low side was cool to the touch not cold(no condesation happening) and the high side was luke warm to the touch. I know the car was not cooling off as it should and that part is a major pita on 4th gens because they go bad but I still have'nt found an answer. I also added one can and made a difference but still not cold like my older geo(throwin snowballs) I was told by a mechanic that the high side line should be hot and the low side cold. He aslo told me that the drier would be the main reason and if I changed that I would get the low colder and the high hotter? Also I've read here that the pressure should be around 25-32 low side is this at idle? or should I lose pressure as I increase rpms? Help please have leather and it aint pleasant!

I wish I could help you! Your symptoms sound sorta like mine, and it ended up being the expansion valve. Ask your mechanic about that.

Are you actually hooking up gauges to diagnose this? You need to, plus get a sniffer.

I agree here, but to add to it, I suspect a lot of the A/C problems are dryer related. I bought a 96 from a lady I work with that said the A/C was never very good and had a stack of receipts from the local Nissan dealer for A/C work. I replaced the dryer, vacummed it down and refilled it and output is now in low 30º range on an 85º day.
I bought the dryer at Auto Zone and it was exactly like the OEM one that came off the car. It even looked like it had been welded in the same fixture.
