looking for simple way to lower sound of my sp2. replacing the y pipe along with cat makes the sp2 way too loud and my ears have had it. looking for a fix which doesnt require me taking off the exhaust.

i read somewhere online suggesting steel wool stuffed in the exhaust. this sounds pretty stupid to me.

Stuffing Stel wool will only work for a day or so, then it will get blown out or stopped up. The only way to reduce the rasp is to add a resonator in the b-pipe or put on a different muffler, like a suppertrap.

 

You can get universal silencers, just need the measurements of your muffler.

Most exhaust shops should carry them, really. If not, you can order them online.

i had the same problem when i did y-pipe, and catback, i couldnt even hear my radio. all i did was get rid of the str8 thru muffler, and get one that was actually muffled, that brought my exhaust noise down a LOT to where i can now have a conversation in my car, or you can try having a resonator welded back in the pipes and see if that helps.
