Water Pump Question

Does anyone experienced with the Maxima know if there's some sort of tell-tale hint or sympton that the water pump may be on its way out? I recall years ago when inline engines (as opposed to a transverse mounting) with fans, etc. being driven by a belt, and there was a weep hole in the waterpump housing that would drip as a result of the seal and/or bearing starting to fail. Is there any such sympton on the Maxima?

But assuming you mean RWD vs FWD mounting, almost all water pump setups have a weep hole, it's not like it's a RWD only thing...

The weep hole drain is here:

Also, did you search? I got over 50 relevant hits when searching for 'water pump weep hole'

Instead of trying to guess at a specific cause, and see if your symptoms match it, why not just post up what's happening to your car? Easier diagnosis, there.
1. I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my question. Thank you.
2. One of my other cars is RWD and has a transverse engine, FWIW.
3. Judging from the content of your post, the apparent "attitude" behind it, and the total number of posts you've managed to wrack up, my guess is that you don't have many friends. Something you might just want to invest in some introspection on.

And my guess is, you know nothing about cars, and care to insult people who help you because they told you that you should have searched prior to asking (as most sections of this forums ask you to do).

And, by the history of pmohr's posts etc... he has helped a lot of maxima.org... what exactly have you done aside from be a complete tool/douche...

all I can say is .... <--- that alone should tell you why you catch an attitude when posting about the 'water pump'. Most every question that can be asked about this subject has, and it's been answered too, multiple times.

Is the car with the transverse mounted RWD a Sabb? lol
