sluggish max acceleration

Hi
167K miles,AT,stock everything,1997 GXE..bought 1k miles ago..
No CEL , no hidden codes
New oil (castrol GTX high millage 5/30w 300miles ago,Fram new oil filter)
New AT fluid (and flushed)
New radiator
New 6 spark plugs (Dunno what brand)
New fuel filter
New air filter
New knock sensor
New BWD EGR valve
New O2 sensor (Left front bank)
Cleaned TB and IACV
Tightned TB cable
Tires pressure is fine
Gas 93 octane CHEVRON always
...Although I'm kinda kind on the gas pedal(I know it),everybody seems to swap me on the green light ..remembered thay guy who talked about having a maxima not Honda Civic...
Is it normal or what ? I am dissapointed by my car acceleration !

Do you have any actual data that says your car is slower than it should be, or are you basing this off of your butt dyno?

Get a dyno, or take it to a track. Until then, you're just saying that it 'feels slow', which may just be how it is. Keep in mind, a stock A32 with a 4AT will run what, 8 seconds 0-60? Most new passenger cars (especially the 'sporty' type) run faster than that.

Also, you say that you're 'disappointed' with your car's acceleration, but you're 'kind' on the gas pedal?

Simple solution. Press the gas pedal down further, problem solved.

Check your tachometer, if your RPM is between 2500 and 3000 at take off, and you're being left behind, then maybe you have tranny issues. At that engine speed unless someone is racing you, you should be ahead of the pack.

I would check the following: Engine idle speed in P or N but in D It may

drop. The normal idle speed on a auto should be 600-700 RPM's. If the idle is

not set then set that then the car will be back to normal. Check what kind of

spark plugs you have, you should only have NGK'S. Check the the solenoids

and the knock sensor It's known to case some poor acceleration. Check your o2 sensors that will cause soem

poor acceleration with bad MPG, you might want to check for a ghost code.

Ahahahaha but give that a shot.... cant hurt right

Not going against you, but my 95 Auto will run 0-60 in the high 6s low 7s with a bad knock sensor. Before that, I could knock out low 6s easy...*Sigh i miss those days ...

Exactly. There's not a chance that a stock 4AT A32 is getting 'high 6s low 7s' 0-60.

And I see no indication of modifications based on his post history, so I think he's just a bit confused.

Or using those 'metric seconds'

Yay i have a 6 mississippi or umm i go 0-60 in 6 secs

sorry that im being OT.

back to the topic.

1. I would start with plugs first. If in doubt just throw in some cheap ngk coppers. Probley like 1.50 each at napa or what ever

2. i would check the coils. Just cause you dont have a cel doesnt mean that you cant have a bad coil. Hell ive had a few bad coils and i dont think ive ever had a cel from it.

3. Check for vaccum leaks. Some unmetered air can cause you to go lean therefore hamper your performance.

4. check those report back. do a follow up. Im sick of questions being asked and no resolution(happens all the time)
