turning corner lights amber
WOW, i didn't know the krylon stained glass yellow turned from yellow->amber->orange. I used them on my legacy foglights for the yellow, used them on the outside and turned out very well!!!. I bought the bottle for $10.60 after tax from Michael's arts and crafts. Looks like i'm busting out the bottle and doing my corners for the maxima... i guess while i'm baking i'm going to black out my OEM headlights. :-)
Any one have pictures of their painted top corners with krylon stained glass yellow? How did it match up to the stock amber markers below? Seemed like a few of you guys got clear bumper lenses and painted them to better match...
If you do, I'm sorry. I would never. I'm actually curious how that would look.
That's my thought. The visual in my head looks better than a amber lenses. Curious how it actually looks if anyone has done it.

i am interested in doing this as well. but like some ons mentioned, how long does it take to go from yellow to orange?...
no one makes amber corners, thats why this thread mentions the krylon spray. did you even read any of the post?...

I did this like a year ago.
just spray the OUTSIDE of the housing with the krylon until its amber.
how many coats? as many as it takes to make em amber its that simple. not like you cant see the color while spraying.

but the bulbs don't change the color of the lens like when you paint it. People are going for more of the look of the amber lens instead of the boring clear with amber spot.
The amber bulbs allow you to switch back and forth between clear and yellow and any other colors whereas if you paint your lense amber your stuck with that color until you get another lense.
It a better way for people who like to change their minds every so often.
Which is why I stick with the bulbs.

Hmmm, never really looked into this but I dont think the orage corners would look bad on zhe dark blue.. I've already got the amber bulbs for both the corners and the bumper lights. I think I'll pick up a set at the JY to play around with. Anyone interested in some so I can have some motivation?

My friend Tim painted the corner lights on his BMW 740iL orange but he painted the inside of them . He baked them in the oven (and it is in here somewhere exactly how to do that) to break the seal on them. Sand it down and use orange paint(he used the stain glass type)
that was non opaque and they look good.

dont know if the first message posted or not so here i go again. my friend painted the sidemarkers on his BMW 740iL orange like you are asking. He used Krylon stained glass paint and he had to bake the lenses to get to the inside(there is a post on here detailing that) and just like anything else you sand it down, wash it off, paint it and the nseal it back and install on your car. it turned out very well and did not look like he spray painted them.
