Installed new HU now handbrake light won't turn off

Just installed a new deck I was given the other day. Bought the Metra bracket and kept the Bose speakers. Everything went fine with the HU, it works as it should and sounds great.

Only problem is that after the install my hand brake light is now illuminated and will not turn off regardless of handbrake being on or not. Anybody have any idea of what I might have done to cause this?

Have you checked anything yet?

Brake fluid, parking brake switch?

Test your alternator. My parking brake light was on and would not go off right before my alternator went out.

I agree w/ pmohr. More than likely just a coincidence. After you replaced the headunit your brake fluid got low enough to trip the light.
