It all started 2-3 months after I bought my Max. He was in decent shape, aside from some minor dents and door dings. But after the first few months, the thing didnt was to start. So, after 2 starters, checking every single ground, harness and harness connectors, I thought I found the problem, a little orange connector having to do with the factory alarm, it was all corroded. I cleaned it, and it seemed to fix the problem. Seemed to.

So, a few months after all that, the car began to shake at low RPMs, stop lights etc. Finally a code came up. The cam and crank pos sensors, both were brand new. I had new spark plugs, checked the coils and all harness and harness connectors again, I found nothing. But one day it all stopped. So I reset the light and let it go.

Shortly after, the above symptoms occured again, and I checked everything again, coils, sparks, injectors, MAF, EGR, everything. But to no avail. So I did what I new I should have done in the first place, went through the FSM trouble shooting process. I followed it word for word. And had checked everything twice. But finally, when it said check all components, ie, injectors, coils etc. I thought, I did this two or three time already. But, today was the day, I checked the injectors, and good god, it was the cylinder two injector the whole bloody time. Im assuming it was randomly working and not working properly. All at its own little whim.

Although, most of the threads here on the .org did not help me too much, every little bit of info was helpful as a whole. The amount of information on this forum is so vast, you would have to be blind, deaf, mute, an imbecile and not be able to feel touch if you cant find anything at all related to your problem.

Moral of the story is, do what Pmohr tells you to and search the hell out of this forum to find your problem, or better yet, get a bloody FSM and find it yourself! Trust me, it works.

congratulations on figuring out the best way to diagnose a problem is following a book made by the manufacturer designed to diagnose problems.

 

Yep, i always used it for all the things ive done with the vehicle, i even used it to try and find out what my problem was. Just never followed the exact process. It was a wonderful, yet pretty obvios revelation.
