Just hardwire it like everyone else... It takes two seconds.

Only person who got the wire to work was danmack

hard wiring works, I and basically everyone else hardwired theirs in. The option wire is what needs to be figured out. Somehow he got his to work.

No offense, but considering he deleted two threads of his own on the subject matter, and after someone gave a detailed breakdown of what the plug can and can't do, it's starting to look like BS to me.

In my 98 Max, the plug was not there, so I proceeded as normal and hardwired it in.

IMO, it wasn't meant for the mirror; therefore it's not wired properly for the mirror.

I believe the 'Why is doesn't work' was posted, then BOOM, the thread was deleted by the OP.

In a Maxi with a certain set of options they put in the roof harness for the I30 for reasons only Nissan knows. Unfortunately, where the roof harness plugs into the main harness, 3 of the conductors in the roof harness do not continue on. As mentioned prior, danmack is the only one who seems to have a fully functional installation which implies his main harness also belongs in an I30.

Yes, I think the original poster of that lost thread was the only one who seemed to be able to make it go though several others, including myself, do have the plug in question.

I did go through the trouble of energizing the one in my Max, here are the basics;
The connector that hooks up the roof (R1) had 8 positions where the connector it plugs into (M10) has only 5 that are actually populated.

The fuses required for the hook up (#13, #18) are both present because they run other things.

The wiring info is available if you download a FSM for an I30 of your year Max.

Without getting into all the details, I went around the R1-M10 connection by extending the conductors in the R1 connector to the appropriate places indicated in the I30 FSM. The connection to the 6J terminal on the fuse block I was able to make "factory" the other two, though well done by hack standards, are not as pretty.

I am quite happy with the results since before this rewire, to save time, I was just using power from the map light which meant the mirror was on all the time. It's not like it draws a lot of current or anything. I left it for a week back in October with no affect on starting.

Pins 2, 3 and 4 (R/Y, R/L and G/L respectively) get illumination power, "lighting" power and ignition power in that order. Pin 1 (Black) is ground. SO, originally I had the map light power to pins 2, 3 and 4 and pin 1 was hooked to ground.

Let me know if you need any more info on the subject.

That's about the only logical conclusion there can be....

Well it all makes some sense, but ill be honest its confusing at the same time... i wish it was as simple as plug and play but guess not.. it looks cleaner being done that way..... well have to wire it with those instructions that the wizard hooked me up with.. thanks for that ..

You should at least consider doing it similar to how I did whereby you use the plug at the mirror and then just extend the wires where they pass under the a-pillar molding down near the windshield (you have to go in there anyway right?).

None taken.

Yea I think it was stupid that he deleted the thread when people were asking questions. But oh well I don't control him. I know his plug does work because I have seen it. But no I wasn't there when he figured out how to get the wire to work.

But anyways I still recommend wiring it in yourself. No one will know unless they pull the pillar/roof/mirror. And it's proven to work.
