Lost to a BUICK???

First light we leave normally and at like 20 I hear him nail it to the top of first......I laughed and thought he was going thru all this to pull over in front of me....but he didn't. Next light i see its an old man with a handicap thing on his mirror!!! I floor it and can't believe he pulls 1/2 car in first and another 1/4 car in second.
He is alone and I have my 12 year old son who is now laughing at me....Next light....no more Mr. nice guy...Torque braked to 1500 and on the green let it rip, moved shifter at 6300 and it shifted right at 6600....Damn...got him this time by 1/2 car to 70 but he wasn't loosing any ground and he actually gained 1/4 in top of 1st( was back 3/4) He may of pulled me but we both let off. We beeped and waved at my turn. Fun, but WTF??? It was like mid-late 90's Le Sabre I think. I don't think it was a S/C model....I had to work for the win, and was dissapointed in the Max. And yes I am stock 99SE auto.
Just Venting.

A Supercharger with 240 HP and tons of torque is always a good thing.

I could have been a Park Ave....It wasn't a regal or Ultra and I didn't look for the name but I forgot they put that S/C motor in the Park Ave. That may explain it, I mean it actually noticably gained ground on me! With the tach at 5500 in first and seeing that car moving forward was a trip. Oh well, got him the 2nd time!

You sure it wasn't a Buick Regal Grand National? Those things were damn ugly but can kill Corvettes, in a straight line of course.

A grand National would have been out of sight by the time I got out of 1st gear. I was one of those run from a light once and it was GONE!!!!!!!!!! So the answer is NO it was not a turbo GN. Those kill 2002 6 speeds without a sweat. sub 5 second 0-60.

Shouldn't be racing with your 12 year old son in the car with you.

Knew that was coming! Straight line to 70 mph in a 16 second car is kinda like 1/2 throttle in a new vette. I would never do any of that 130 mph crap I read of here with my son, but a little flooring it to 10mph over limit is safe enough for me. There was no weaving, squeeling corners or stupid speeds in this race, heck, we both let off before I hit third. Enough excuses.....

So in like 4 years, when your son comes home without a car(if he gets a car) b/c he either wrecked it or got it impounded b/c he was street racing, will you be mad?

BTW, My friend had a 95 SSEi (supercharged) Pontiac Bonneville, had the same engine as GTPs and Supercharged Regals/LeSabres.. When I had my 93 SE auto, I used to keep up with him to like 40, then he would pull on me very hard...

You probably raced a Regal LS with the 3800 NON-supercharged engine. If it was a GS (supercharged) he would have owned you big time....those can run with and beat stock 5-speed maximas. My brother has a Grand Prix GT which is basically the SAME car as a regal LS...and he is almost DEAD even racing a stock auto max. I'm suprised he didn't get you through first gear...my bros GP usually kills most cars off the line...
