Airbag Module Problem !?!?!?

I took my car into the dealer after trying to reset the airbag myself witht he instructions I got here. Since it didn't work I took it in, the found out it's the passenger side air bag module that is the problem. Any ideas as to where I can get one cheap? Or fix it some how, or where it is located. Thanks.

Ah ha. My bags blew Saturday when I drove over a median. I wonder if there might be a defect in mine as well....I'm thinking about having a Investigator take a look at my car. There's a couple places on the internet that sell airbags for our car. One had both driver/passenger/control module for $1,250+shipping.

Do you remember where this site was? Thanks. My airbag hasn't blown yet, the light just started flashing and that's what came back, that the side bag was finished.B. S. if you ask me, and it's not covered under warranty.

Check ebay, have seen them there, also check car-part.com. Most junkyards (excuse me recycling centers) want to sell all three components as a set. Left/Right and computer. If you find anyone with only one bag they will sell for $250 (since its not a full set and harder to sell). (I found them for that price when I was looking for a complete set for a 98 SE.) Of course some yards will insist on $500 for one bag cause just maybe they can get it, don't bite on that price.

Do your homework first and be sure that you get the exact part you need since Nissan changed the bags often from year to year and model to model.

If you want to be really creative get the part number you need from Nissan, and then call dealers in Canada, I almost bought mine there since the Canadian $ is now worth $0.65 and some of the parts prices are identical or very close, be sure and tell them you are a small business and ask for the body shop price to save another 15%. Just use your Visa card cause they don't take American Express.

Elcid, when you tried to reset the light, did you have any success at first? My light came on (coincidentaly after I installed the white face gauges) and I reset it 2x successfully but it came back on after a day or two. I haven't brought it back to the dealer yet (it's been about 3 months of flashing). I figure if it's the side air bag, what a great opportunity for me to replace the seats with a set of Sparco's or Recaros with a 5 pt harness . Only thing would be I'd lose the power seat function .

If you want to stop the flashing, pull out the fuse for the airbag. The light will stay on, but at least it won't be a blinking distraction.
