My sunroof repair kit experience and broken shade :(
I am very thankful for the write up on here, much better than the instructions they send with the kit! It was pretty easy and I actually didn't tighten up the glass till I got it in the car to make my adjustments.
The bad news is my sunshade clips as expected were messed up and it will do me no good to put it back in, need a replacement. Local Nissan parts store was closed by the time I got through Saturday to call. Does anyone have access to a price list for this or an alternate supplier? I guess I could always look for a used one or advertise in the classified.
I did search and see someone had been quoted 150...yikes. I hope that was shade and replacement labor, not the part.

Hi,
I need to repair my sunroof cause its not closing. I have to pull it closed but its not going all the way up from the back.
Where did you find the instructions of repairing the sunroof? My motor seems to be ok so I think i need to get a kit and service it myself. Give me some pointers from your recent experience (time, tools and instructions)
Thanks,
Ken

There is a how to under the stickies under this forum. The kit cost me $125. Consists of both rails for the sunroof.
Taking down all the stuff was not bad, I was slow and careful not to break clips. I actually didn't take out my rear seat or completely remove the plastic trim pieces that are attached to the shoulder (seat belt) harness. I just took them a loose a the top.
Was surprised that the headliner also has some velcro holding it up around the sunroof so when you get all of the screws/bolts out and everything down around the headliner take that to mind. You can get the headliner out of the car without removing one of the front seats but it is tricky alone. I did it but would probably just take 5 minutes and remove a front seat next time.
I used everything in the kit, look at your parts list before you look at the instructions and make sure you know where each part will be used...don't do like I did and forget the "shoes" for the track guides the first time and have to pull the tracks back out...fortunately before the frame went back up.
The kit comes with some vague instructions and pictures, I referenced them but also the how to on here. Do make sure that after you remove the motor that it works (hook it back up to the wires/switch) and that it lines up. There is an alignment guide (circle/line) on the motor assembly. The kit won't replace anything except the sunroof rails so make sure everything else is good.
You can IM me if you have other questions. Depending on how comfortable you are with tools and taking a car apart this can be fairly easy and take 2-3 hours of work taking your time.
You will need metric sockets, a phillips and flat head screwdriver.
