Question about starting issues.
Question about starting issues.
I just replaced my starter last week cause of starting issues and today my 99 se-l didn't start. My battery is about 2 months old and i'm not sure what to do. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for Nissan to figure it out. A co-worker suggested it is a wiring short. Any clues on what it could be?
It could be a thousand different things.
First of all, red text is just plain difficult to read. The default font, text size, and text color are perfectly readable on this site, why change them?
You have listed not a SINGLE symptom other than 'my car doesn't start'.
Does it just click? Does it crank slowly? Does it not make any noise? Does the engine start and die?
Is it a starting issue? Or an idle issue?
Is the security light on with the key in the ON position? Have you checked all of your fuses? Have you checked all of your connections?
Does the battery have corrosion on the posts? Are the cables tight? Are the connections to the starter secure? Are you sure the battery is good?
...etc.
If you don't give information, we can't help.

First off, why are your always giving me a hard time?
Sorry if i'm not up to speed here. Anyway....it try's to start and makes a clicking noise then the clicking stops. Battery doesn't have corrosion. I'm not too sure about the fuses. I'll check them when I get out of work.

Again, check the battery's state of charge. Likely it's just near dead.
If it isn't, make sure the cables are tight both at the battery and at the starter itself.
Failing that, I'd exchange the starter (assuming it's got a warranty).
I guess thats true. The starter was new from Autozone. The battery was recharged last thursday but I have a feeling wal-mart didn't know what the hell they were doing. The connections are clean and tight on everything. What about yellow? Ha! Ha!
I 2 have a major problem now with my Maxima with the starting.. In order to start my car I will have to clutch and start at the same time and sometimes it will take me all day to even start it once could it be the Slave thats giving me this problem??.. Or something else

Assuming a factory 5 speed (or a proper conversion), you should have to keep the clutch pedal depressed in order for the starter to work.
The clutch slave cylinder? ...No, it doesn't affect starting.
