leatherseats.com leather question

I have a question for those who has installed a leatherseats kit before. I'm tempted to pick up a set of leather from leatherseats, but the set is for a non-airbag seat. I meanwhile have side airbags. Does anyone know if it will be an issue when installing? I don't want to spend money on a set of leather I can't use.

It shouldn't be an issue. The shape of the seat doesn't change with or without the airbag. The skin should cover that area. You better hope the airbag can deploy through it though.

4th Gen seat airbags are separate units which attach to the seat backs. The seat covering material goes under them, so there should be no issue with them deploying improperly. They do not rupture the seat cover like the side bags in later model cars do.

yea, the air bag unit does sit on the outside of the leather. I'm more concerned with the fact the the cover for the back of the seat is different due to the airbag. I'd hate to buy this kit and it doesn't fit. It'd be a lot of money wasted.

You'll probably have to trim the new covers, but it shouldn't be an issue.

Someone here has to have installed it with the side airbag before. Ask around and they'll send you a pic.

+1. Thats what I was thinking. It might be a little tricky to get it to look 100% though.

You mean ask around the org for people that have done it?

Actually, he might do pretty well to even make a thread about it! Surely he'll get good responses then.

Interesting, it seems like that's been done before: http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ml#post7129556

Wow buddy, that was rough.

As said above, they will either come trimmed to fit, or, im sure you can pull out the side airbag and trim the leather to fit the whole, and reinstall. Either way, i would do it in a heart beat. I prices leather for mine, only $700 or so for the whole thing, not bad IMO

I just used the seat cover I removed as a cutting template.

$700 would be for the deluxe package. There are also premium and full leather packages available.

Premium package - backseat pic (and yes I know the cover needs to be pulled tighter)

How did the leather match up on the backside, where the cardboard type cover is?
